Defrost Operation
Automatic and manual defrost procedures
Automatic defrost is initiated by the control system based on timer settings and the defrost air switch. The system monitors conditions and triggers defrost when needed to maintain efficient operation.
To initiate a manual defrost, press the DEFROST button on the left side of the control panel. This is useful when you notice frost buildup on the evaporator coils.
Defrost heats the evaporator coil to melt accumulated ice and frost. During defrost, the evaporator fans may stop temporarily to allow efficient melting. Defrost terminates automatically when the coil reaches the termination temperature.
A typical defrost cycle takes 5-20 minutes depending on the amount of frost buildup. Each compartment can defrost independently.
During defrost, the ALARM light may illuminate. This is NORMAL โ it indicates that temperature control is temporarily suspended during the defrost cycle.
